Chinese Government Scholarship Chinese University Program - Capital Normal University (CNU)

Capital Normal University (CNU), founded in 1954, is a national “Double-First Class” university and “Province-Ministry Co-sponsored” (Beijing and the Ministry of Education) university. CNU provides various disciplines including literature, science, engineering, management, law, education, foreign language and art. Over the past 60 years, CNU has trained more than 200,000 senior professionals of various types and is an important base for personnel training in Beijing. CNU currently has 17 first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 101 doctoral degree programs, 15 post-doctoral mobile stations, 26 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree and 142 master's degree programs. All specialties at all levels of CNU are open to international students.

 

Capital Normal University is authorized by Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China to be responsible for the acceptance and administration of Chinese Government Scholarship students. Capital Normal University recruits international graduate students (masters and doctors) from the Chinese Government Scholarship Type B independent enrollment program.

 

I    SCHOLARSHIP TYPES

Full-time master's and doctoral students. The teaching language is Chinese, and English is provided for some majors.

This program does not accept applicants for the major of Chinese international education.

 

II    ELIGIBILITY

    1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.

    2. Education background and age limit:

       1) Master’s degree applicants must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35; Applicants should have a Level 5 HSK Certificate with minimum score of 195; If apply for English teaching, IELTS score must reach 6.0 or above.

       2) Doctoral degree applicants must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40; Applicants should have a Level 5 HSK Certificate with minimum score of 195; If apply for English teaching, IELTS score must reach 6.0 or above.

    3. Applicants should have a competitive academic record.

    4. Applicants should have strong scientific research ability.

    5. Applicants must not be in China during the application process.

    6. Applicants should not be holders of any other scholarship.

    7. Applicants are required to actively participate in various activities organized by the school after entering the school.

 

III    SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE AND CRITERIA

     1. Tuition waiver;

     2. Free accommodation on campus (double room);

     3. Monthly allowance: 3,000 CNY per person for master’s degree students and 3,500 CNY per person for doctoral degree students;

     4. Comprehensive Medical Insurance: 800 CNY per person. 

 

Note: Scholarship winners are required to bear other expenses incurred in studying in China, such as round-trip international travel expenses, medical examination fees, on-campus accommodation deposit, utilities, teaching materials, etc.

 

IV   APPLICATION PROCEDURES AND APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

1. Applicants should log on the website of CSC to register and complete online application. (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register; Program Category: “B”; Agency No.: “10028”) Submit the application information in Chinese or English, and print the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" automatically generated by the CSC registration system.

2. After completing the registration on the website of CSC, applicants should also complete the online registration procedure at the Capital Normal University International Student Online Service System. (Website: https://cnu.17gz.org/) Once the initial material examination passed, CNU foreign student service system will present message of payment 800 CNY registration fee online for material review, paper documents will not be accepted. (The application fee is used for material review and is non-refundable; if the application fee is not paid, the application is invalid.)

3. Send a scanned copy of "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" to Email: 6828@cnu.edu.cn (the scanned copy must be signed by the applicant).

4. Applicants should ensure the authenticity of the submitted documents. Applicants should keep the phone unimpeded, check the email and registration system regularly. Our office will keep in touch with the applicant according to the actual situation.

5.  The documents to be submitted to the registration system include:

(1) 2 Recommendation letters from different associate professors or scholars in the relevant field.  Priority will be given to applicants who provide Acceptance Letter from supervisors at CNU.

(2) Academic Transcript.

1) Applicants for master's degree program need to provide their undergraduate transcript, graduation and bachelor’s degree certificates.

2) Applicants for doctoral degree program need to provide their master’s degree transcript, graduation and master’s degree certificates.

3) Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

(3)  Notarized certificate of highest education issued by an officially recognized legal notary (in Chinese or English).

(4)  Language proficiency certificate.

1)  Applicants for Chinese-instructed programs must provide HSK certificate. (Applicants without Chinese language basics can apply for one-year elementary Chinese study)

2)  Applicants for English-instructed programs must provide the certificate of TOEFL or IELTS test score.

(5) Study Plan.

(6) Passport Photo Page.

(7) Foreigner Physical Examination Form and Blood Test Report.

(8) 2-inch ID photo.

(9) Application fee of 800 CNY. (Please pay the application fee on the website of College of International Education. The application fee is used for material review and is non-refundable; if the application fee is not paid, the application is invalid.)

 

V   APPLICATION DEADLINES:  1st April 2021

 

VI  ADMISSION AND OFFER

International Student Office of Capital Normal University will contact related colleges and departments to review the application documents, and submit it to the China Scholarship Council, then admit excellent candidates to China Scholarship Council (CSC) for final approval. The scholarship winner will receive an Admission Notice and JW201 Form from International Student Office.
